Botox is just one of many brands of botulinum toxin – an injectable substance that is used as an anti-wrinkle treatment. It’s injected into the target area to reduce movement in the muscle. When the movement of muscle is reduced, the overlying skin will also have less movement and folds resulting in improvement of wrinkles.

Face is cleaned and the areas where injections are to be given is marked. Patients will be asked to move the muscles in your face to help find the best place for the injections. Botox will be injected into muscles in your face using a very fine needle which will cause very little pain and most of the patients tolerate it very easily. Some patients who are very pain sensitive, a numbing cream can be applied over the face 30-40 minutes before the procedure or ice packs can be used during treatment. Multiple injections are needed in different places, depending on the area being treated.
